Before I get into my story, I wanted to post a picture of the birds that wake me up EVERY morning at 7:00- 7:30. They are Kookaburras. If you have time, youtube "laughing kookaburra". That is the sound that I wake up to. Holy cow. Can't ever get used to that. But they are really cute and playful :)
So you all know by now that I am obsessed with Australian birds. So what did I decide to do with $4 of my money? I bought bird seed.
So I bought this bird seed (probably the only college student who ever has) and I put it on my back porch on my ash tray. I bought the kind to attract Rainbow Lorikeets and parrots because lorikeets are my favorite bird. Next to the bird seed, I also put the end piece of my bread to attract them even more. (Lorikeets LOVE bread.)
As soon as I put it out, they came in flocks. I'm not even kidding, it wasn't even 30 seconds. I watched birds fight over it, then I quickly ran upstairs to get my camera. By the time I got back down, there were two lorikeets left; they had fought off the rest. They ate and ate until their bellies were full.
When they left, the other lorikeets could come eat what they wanted. There was one really fat lorikeet who went crazy and ate all of the bread and knocked over the bird seed. I liked him a lot! :)
All of a sudden, something came out of the bush onto my back porch! It was a lizard! He wanted some food too!!! I ran outside and followed it and took pictures. I can't wait to look up what kind of lizard it is!! :)
Well that's my story for today! I need to stop watching birds and start focusing on my presentation that I have to give in less than two hours. Whoops! :)
