The grass is always greener... in Australia.

I really like it here. I like the weather, I like the trees, I like my classes, I like the birds, I like my friends, I like peoples attitudes, and have I said I like the weather? My friend Sarah got sunburnt yesterday... in winter. If only I could get sunburnt in the winter in Michigan! I get a tan here and it's supposedly "cold" right now. Today I wore capris and a tank top.

I wish I was staying for longer. I don't think I can do all that I want to in less than four months! I can't wait to explore! I get to start this next weekend!!! :)

My Australian friends have decided to show me around Sydney in not the touristy way, but in the way that I can see what real Australians like to do. First we're going to Clair's favorite hot chocolate shop. She said it's like drinking pure chocolate. I don't know if I will like it since I don't like chocolate too much, but maybe I will. You never know. I do eat differently than I did before. And next month Sarah and Clair are taking me to Manly Beach and we are going to shop and swim. It was funny because Sarah asked if I brought thongs to go to the beach and I was like... "A thong to go to the beach? No I just brought a normal swim suit..." and she laughed. They say thongs instead of flip flops here. Thank goodness Sarah traveled to the U.S. and knew what flip flops were otherwise we would both not know what the other was talking about.

There was a shark attack today in Perth. Perth is on the other side of the continent (the distance from like New York to L.A.) but it was still a big deal in Sydney because there are rarely shark attacks. Also, the election for the prime minister is coming up and there are lots of funny commercials on T.V. on who to elect. It's kind of like the U.S. where one bashes the other. I like watching the news because I like to see what's going on in Australia. I watch it as I do homework.

Today I had my ecology prac (lab) and we went to the rainforest in Sydney again. I'll post some pictures. Last time we went it was raining. This time it was really nice! I only stayed for an hour or two though because I got tired. But I'm going back soon to get more plant samples. My roommates are probably going to kill me because I have to freeze my plant specimens because they might have poisonous spiders in the flowers. I'm taking up most of the freezer already. But look at how weird the flowers are here! They feel like a hair brush. But it would be very easy for a spider to crawl in there, so I'm definitely freezing it.

Tomorrow is Wednesday for me. All I have is one class, but then I have so much work to do. I'm going to use tomorrow as my work day so that I can enjoy Thursday- Sunday. Thursday I'm probably going to go job hunting actually. Who knows. If something better comes up, I'll go job hunting Friday instead. I really want a job so I can do more things.

Okay well I'm off to start making dinner and then do some homework. Lame! I hope to hear from you all soon.

Here's a pic of the Sydney rainforest...
